Four Indian Women Super Bikers Visit Cambodia

A group of four female super bikers from India arrived Cambodia via Bavet Border (with Vietnam) on 3 July 2016 as part of their expedition covering 10 Asian nations.  The group of super bikers started its 10-nation expedition from Nepal and undertook the mission of spreading the message "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" (Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child), the campaign which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in January 2015.

This is the first ever attempt by women bikers which will cover more than 10000 Kms for around 36 days and cover 10 Nations – Nepal, India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

The quartet of the Biking Queens, a female biking club in Surat (India), were received at Bavet border and warmly welcomed by the Embassy official and a group of enthusiast Cambodian bikers.  A reception was also organized at India House in Phnom Penh for the biking queens where H.E. Naveen Srivastava Ambassador of India to Cambodia welcomed the group along with prominent members of the Indian Community.

On 4 July 2016, the super women bikers met H.E. Dr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Office of Council of Ministers and H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.  During the meetings both the leaders highly appreciated their effort and discussed cultural linkages between the two countries, welfare and supportive measures for women empowerment, the important role of women in family and society.  Biking queens shared their biking experience in South East Asian countries and expressed that riding in Cambodia, the seventh destination of their long journey, was the most exciting part.  They hoped that such expedition would also promote connectivity between India and South East Asia.

Ambassador of India to Cambodia flagged off the team from Phnom Penh on 4 July afternoon for their continued journey to Malaysia and Singapore.
