VISIT OF INDIAN NAVAL SHIPS TO  SIHANOUKVILLE, CAMBODIA

Indian Naval Ships INS SAHYADRI commanded by Capt Ashwin Arvind and INS KILTAN commanded by Cdr Ginto George Chacko would be making a port call at Sihanoukville from 05-08 Sep 2019. This ship visit forms part of the Indian Navy’s ongoing goodwill visit to South East Asia region. 

Besides professional interaction between personnel of both the Navies, the programme will include official calls and interaction with dignitaries of the Cambodian Government. Guided tours for Indian Navy personnel and sports events between both Navies are also planned.  The local populace will get opportunity to visit the Indian ship. On its way out, Indian Navy and Royal Cambodian Navy will undertake PASSEX.

Bilateral relations between India and Cambodia have been traditionally strong with cultural, religious and economic ties. India-Cambodia relations have been strengthened in recent years due to increasing engagement in all sectors. Last year witnessed a number of high profile bilateral visits commencing from the state visit of Prime Minister of Cambodia, H.E. Mr Hun Sen to India in January 2018. He was also a Guest of Honour at the Republic Day Parade 2018 and took part in the ASEAN-India Commemoration Summit. The substantive relationship between India and Cambodia is all time high.

The current ship visit seeks to enhance maritime cooperation between the two Navies. This will further bolster the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries and contribute to security and stability in the region and the world at large.
