Quick Impact Project for Water, Sanitation & Hygiene in Schools

Government of India has offered grant assistance of US$ 50,000/- under Quick Impact Project, within the framework of Mekong Ganga Cooperative (MGC) Initiative to Ministry of Education, Youth & Sport of Cambodia for implementation of project titled “Water, Sanitation & Hygiene in Schools”.

This project will provide safe water to 6 primary schools in Kandal Province. Further, the project will train the teachers and students on best hygiene and sanitation practices. The benefits of this project are safe water supply; improved sanitation & hygiene; thereby reducing sickness, school absenteeism and early school dropout of female students. This will result in overall improvement in school performance.

To launch the project, an Orientation Workshop was held on 16 August 2016 in Saang District, Kandal Province which was attended by officers from School Health Department, Ministry of Education, Youth & Sport, representative from Indian Embassy, Chief of Primary School Office, Kandal Province and 33 School Principals from 16 communes in Kandal Province.
