India provides help to primary students

Government of India offered grant assistance under Quick Impact Project, within the framework of Mekong Ganga Cooperative (MGC) Initiative to Ministry of Education, Youth & Sport of Cambodia for implementation of project titled "Water, Sanitation & Hygiene in Schools". This project will provide safe water supply with hand washing and tooth brushing facilities in 6 primary schools in Kandal Province. It will also train the school principal, teachers and students on best hygiene and sanitation practices.

The benefits of this project are safe water supply; improved sanitation & hygiene; thereby reducing sickness, school absenteeism and early school dropout of female students. This will result in overall improvement in school performance.

Out of 33 primary schools in Sa-ang District, Kandal Province, 6 schools were selected for implementation of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in school project (WinS). Work has been completed at 3 primary schools. Work in remaining 3 primary schools will commence shortly.
