In a MoU exchange and inauguration ceremony held on 16 August 2022, H.E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia, exchanged an MoU with Mr. Savorn Toem, Director, Our School, for a project "Digital literacy and Education Programme with blended Learning approach in Kep Province".

The event was graced by His Excellency Mr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia & Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) as a chief guest, H. E. Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Cambodia. Mr. Jef Moons, Founder of Knai Bang Chatt, Ms. Lyze Bentoto, Project consultant Mr. Tem Hean, Village Chief, and Mr. Savorn Toem , Head of Our School. The event was held as part of the Iconic Week celebrations by the Embassy of India Phnom Penh of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) from 08-16 August 2022, culminating in the grand reception to mark the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence.

The AKAM is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

This initiative, is a part of Government of India’s Quick Impact Project (QIP) Scheme under the framework of Mekong Ganga Cooperation. The Project envisages in building E-teaching and E-learning platforms in Kep Province by transforming existing curriculum into digital tool, fostering digital literacy within the local community.

Government of India cooperates with the Royal Government of Cambodia on many grants assistance programmes that contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the people of Cambodia. Under QIP Scheme, the Government of India implements 10 projects every year in Cambodia by providing a funding of up to USD 50,000/- each per project. Since 2015-16, the Government of India has approved 46 projects in the fields of IT, agriculture, health, sanitation, women’s empowerment, child welfare, rural development, social infrastructure (including capacity building), environment, etc. Out of 46 projects, 23 projects have already been completed and the remaining 23 projects are at various stages of execution. These projects have received overwhelming response and created a distinct and visible impact not only among the beneficiaries but also in the larger community.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of Our School thanked the Government and Embassy of India for providing grants for this project that would be beneficial for local community and support the digital transition of Kep. His Excellency Mr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia & Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), expressed happiness that the project will be beneficial to the people of province, the Senior Minister particularly thanked the Ambassador for her continuous support and cooperation that has been extended to Royal Government of Cambodia.

Ambassador Dr. Devyani Khobragade expressed India’s commitment to Cambodia in digital learning. Ambassador hoped the project will help digital transformation of Kep and assured further support in technological support in E-learning and training in Cambodia.

Mr Moons enthusiastically applauded the school's achievements and strongly believed that with the support of all donors, Our School is continuously growing and has a wonderful impact on the community. He also shared the next step of the project, which is to move beyond the school walls, providing digital literacy training to parents and other people in the surrounding communities.
