India enhances demining skills of Cambodian Army

A four-member demining team led by Lt. Col. D.S. Chauhan visited Cambodia from 9-23 October 2016 to impart training to personnel of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) at National Center for Peacekeeping Forces, Mine and ERW Clearance (NPMEC).

Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has been conducting Peacekeeping and Demining Capsules for RCAF personnel annually since 2008.   This has considerably enhanced skills of RCAF personnel in detection of mines and IEDs.   Also, such training capsules have helped Cambodia deploy its personnel for UN Peacekeeping Missions in many parts of the world.

To mark the closure of demining training, a ceremony was held at NPMEC, Kampong Speu Province on 21 October 2016.   Gen. Tan Saly, Deputy Director of NPMEC and Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Second Secretary, Embassy of India, presided over the event and handed over certificates to RCAF personnel on their successful completion of training.   Gen. Saly expressed his deep appreciation to the Indian team for sharing their expertise and knowledge with the trainees.
