Indian Scholarship Schemes for Cambodian Students

(Under-Graduate/Post-Graduate/Higher Studies)

Indian universities/colleges, technical Institutions provide excellent education in India in diverse fields viz. humanities, social sciences, technology, engineering, art and culture which invite applications for under-graduate, post-graduate and higher studies from students from all over the world.

Other than the direct admission of students in Indian Institutions, Government of India under its various scholarships schemes provides scholarships to deserving foreign students. For Cambodian students, every year applications are invited for admission to various undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., engineering and cultural course in premier Indian universities and institutions. These scholarships are administered by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), which is the cultural wing of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Following fully funded Scholarship Schemes are available for Cambodian students:

For the Academic Year commencing from July-August every year, applications are invited from interested students in the month of January/February every year through online portal http://www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in/ .

Eligibility and Criteria

  1. Preference of universities:
  2. Applicants have the option to apply upto 5 Universities/Institutes in order to of their preference of study.
  3. Eligibility test:
  4. A 500-word essay in English shall be written by the students for checking English proficiency.
  5. The students can also submit their TOFEL / IELTS etc. if available.

iii. The Universities / Institutes may conduct an interview online with the students.

  1. Facilities provided:
  2. Return air-fares to nearest airport and train fare to the place of study, if so required.
  3. Full Tuition Fee, Living Allowance, Book Allowance and accommodation.
  4. Age Criteria:
  5. The students shall be between 18 and 30 years old for undergraduate (Bachelor) and postgraduate (Master) at the time of admission in Indian universities / institutes. Ph.D students can be upto 45 years old.
  6. Medical Insurance:
  7. It is compulsory for all scholarship students to procure Medical Insurance policy by themselves with minimum sum assured for Indian Rupees Five Lakhs (approx. $6000/-) per annum.
  8. The cost of Medical Insurance will be borne by the students. The A2A Portal has two insurance companies for referral.
  9. Accommodation:
  10. For the security of the foreign students, scholarship awardees are advised to stay in the campus hostel, if available.
  11. The students are allowed to stay in private accommodation, if the concerned institute does not insist on staying in their hostel.
  12. List of courses not admissible for scholarship:
  13. Admissions in Medical / Paramedical (Nursing / Physiotherapy / anaesthesia etc.) / fashion / law courses / integrated courses such as BALLB (5 years) / B.Sc & M.Sc (5 years) etc. are not admissible for scholarship.
  14. Required Documents:
  15. For BE / B.Tech courses, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) are compulsory in 10, 11 and 12 grades of school and it is a mandatory requirement for engineering courses.
  16. Mark sheets for each level 10, 11 and 10+2 equivalent level of school including character / migration certificate should be uploaded along with the transcripts in English.

iii. The application will not be considered without English translation of documents if the original documents are not in English.

  1. It may also be noted that incomplete application can be summarily rejected by universities.
  2. Applicants must have a valid passport, issued by the relevant authorities.
  3. For postgraduate programs, 10+2 certificate, transcript of undergraduate’s mark sheets along with Bachelor Degree are required to be uploaded.

vii. For PhD program,  10+2 certificate, transcript of undergraduate’s mark sheets and Bachelor Degree, transcript of postgraduate’s mark sheet and Degree and synopsis (research proposal) to be uploaded.

Nalanda University which is the revival of prestigious Nalanda University of ancient India, offers 05 slots fully funded for Cambodian students every year under ASEAN Scholarship Programme for admission in various postgraduate courses. 3. Other Scholarships: Scholarship schemes for many other courses like Hindi, Yoga, Sanskrit, AYUSH etc. are also announced by various Institutions of Government of India from time to time which are given wide publicity through Embassy’s website and social media accounts.
