Indian Cinema Week

2nd Indian Cinema Week was jointly inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information of Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Som Sokun, Secretary of State, Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, H.E. Hun Many, President, Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia and H.E. Mr. Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Cambodia on 22 June 2016 with traditional lighting of lamp. 

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Srivastava spoke about Indian films and its influence in earlier decades in Cambodia.   He hoped that these latest movies will inspire Cambodian filmmakers to make great movies.

During the inaugural ceremony, a Kathak dance was performed by Ms. Parul Lanka, a prominent member of Indian diaspora. A short film on India Tourism was also shown to the audience before the screening of opening Indian movie ‘Piku’.  The inaugural ceremony was attended by over 500 Cambodian and Indian guests.

The Cinema Week celebrates diversity of Indian cinema through Bollywood - comedies, drama and fantasy in Dolby Sound with English subtitles and seeks to recreate the same magic for Cambodian audiences.
